What factors led you to account aggregation?

We require a system to bring held-away accounts into PortfolioCenter on a daily basis. Manually collecting and entering this data was so labor intensive we could only do it on a monthly basis. This manual process proved to be limiting when we wanted to look at an account mid-month. Before working with Aqumulate, we simply did not have the bandwidth to do it daily.

Why did you choose to work with Aqumulate?

The other service providers were almost 4x the price. We felt Aqumulate could at a minimum deliver an equal service at a more competitive price. 

Did Aqumulate succeed in meeting those expectations?

Aqumulate completely met our expectations. Your software is exactly what we needed, and it is exactly what we expected. Our reporting process is streamlined and automated; takes approximately 15 minutes each morning. For us that is huge. Larger firms may be able to this manually, but for a smaller firm, it is nearly impossible.

ADVISING client's on their 401ks is a big part of your business. How did Aqumulate help grow that segment?

I was giving clients advice on their 401k accounts and not charging for the service. I needed to bring the account information into portfolio management software, but the time to do it manually made it cost prohibitive. I was leaving money on the table and needed to capture those assets electronically. With Aqumulate we can now advise and bill on assets where we used to provide advice for free.

As you know, the other providers are more expensive. But it was not just the cost of your service. Your application is simple to use, and the attention to detail during the sales process showed your firm cares about the success of your customer and our clients.

You have been a client for several years now. Why do you continue working with us?

We are happy with your entire service. It is incredible, and we love it. I can provide a level of service that advisors who are not using aggregation would not be able to do.

Why aggregation?

It's simple. We are three advisors that wanted to grow our practice and the thought of manually collecting and entering data on 100s of outside accounts quite frankly scared us. If we wanted to scale up, we had to consider technology to help us become more efficient. 

CAN YOU PROVIDE SOME INSIGHT INTO HOW AQUMULATE WORKS FOR YOU?

We can now bill on non-managed accounts and manage financial plans. Before Aqumulate, we only manually collected outside account data for financial planning clients. We did not bill on it, we just put it in our planning software or updated an annual balance sheet. We did not do anything else with that data. We were also providing allocations for their 401ks at no cost. 

Now we are billing for these additional services. Our clients must enter accounts into Aqumulate if they want our firm to monitor it.  

Our asset growth is tied to using Aqumulate. These are assets we knew clients had, but they were not flowing into our portfolio management software. 

For example, we may have a client with a 401k that was flowing directly into PortfolioCenter via a feed. Then the employee left their employer, and the account no longer came through. Now we have it back with Aqumulate. 

Our firm works with employer plans, and now we are working with the spouses to get their employer plans pulled in. And our clients are excited about it. 

Did you consider other vendors?

We did our homework. Your cost initially sets you apart, but that was not a factor. We had to get away from the idea of manual collection and entry regardless of cost. The deciding factors were your initial support and your flexible integrations. Other aggregation systems either do not support all the integrations that Aqumulate offers, or their integrations did not work well. We need data in multiple systems and your ability to parse data and get it where we needed it, on time, was the key.

We're thrilled with our decision. Aqumulate gives us an advantage over our peers. The software works great, and clients love it.
